Pack your blankets, grab your friends and leave the bad vibes behind because it is music festival season. Wear We Went has its eyes set on the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival in Singapore - which takes place this Saturday, January 30th at The Meadow at Gardens By The Bay. Singapore’s lush garden oasis is the perfect setting for an over-the-top music festival such as this.
The lineup for Laneway this year features many crowd favorites such as the dreamy UK band, The 1975. Other must-see sets include CHVRCHES, Battles, Grimes, East India Youth, Flume, Purity Ring, Beach House, as well as a mix of top local and international artists. With several different stages, each one has a different vibe that appeals to types of music lovers. This year, for Laneway’s Sixth consecutive festival in Singapore, they have added a brand new stage, bringing together a new genre of local and international electronic DJs and visual artists. There is variety at this festival in not only the music, but also in the eclectic art. For example, the stages were uniquely designed by local artists such as including Australia's JPS, Singapore's Mean, and visual artist Brandon Tay accompanying duo Kiat & Kane on stage.
Despite having blossomed into one of the biggest music events in Southeast Asia, the festival has remained true to its original values: championing community, fostering collaboration, encouraging self-expression, and offering an excuse to have fun. The amazing headlining acts, chic festival-wear and delicious culinary options to see are certainly worth a ticket. If you miss out on Laneway Singapore, the festival will be touring in New Zealand this weekend and is set to kick off its Australia leg the following weekend with cities such as Auckland, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.
